Tree Bracing Systems

Trees grow in a wide variety of conditions and experience many kinds of weather patterns and environmental factors that influence the way that they respond. As trees mature, large limbs can become prone to storm damage from high winds especially if they have not developed strong unions.

Our arborists can readily identify weak limbs and attachment points and can prescribe suitable tree restraint systems.

The unique tree restraint system consists of a synthetic fibre (rope) that stretches to allow the branches to flex naturally. The system utilizes a special padded splice loop around the tree branches to avoid girdling and grips tightly under load.

Tree restraint systems contribute to preserving valuable trees inexpensively and to minimise risk. The restraint systems are only designed to support branches from falling if they break.

The Lazy Tree Restraint System

The lazy tree restraint system is a risk management tool that provides an effective solution for trees with weak branch junctions. They have also been used for trees that are prone to spontaneous branch failure. The restraint system improves safety by limiting crown movement within its natural range. The restraint system only provides support should the tree parts move beyond their natural range or should partial or total failure occur.

The cables are made of synthetic fibre that stretch to allow the tree to flex naturally. The system utilizes a special padded splice loop around the tree branches. The loop is able to grow with the tree to avoid girdling and grips tightly when under load.  The cabling technique can contribute to preserving valuable trees in order to minimize risk. The system is only designed to support branches from falling if they break.  It should be noted that all bracing systems require regular (annual) checks.
