Why Hire a Sydney Arborist

by Andrew Scales | August 30, 2013

An arborist is a specialist in the care of trees, dedicated to excellence in the field of Arboriculture. Certified arborists are highly qualified in the care of trees and shrubs, with knowledge of the most up-to-date advances.

An arborist by definition is an individual who is trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining trees.

In Australia, education and training is referred to as AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework).  There are varying levels of qualification but it is generally assumed that one cannot refer to themselves as an arborist until they are at a minimum Level 3 which covers all the skill requirements both practical and theoretical pertaining to tree work and general tree management.  Level 5 Arborist’s (Diploma) have more concise training and the skills to prepare arborist reports, consultations and comprehensive tree care.

Arborists tend to specialize in one or more disciplines of arboriculture such as climbing and pruning, diagnosis and treatment or perhaps consultation and report writing.  All these disciplines are related and some arborists are very well experienced in all areas of tree work, but not all arborists have the training or experience to properly practice every discipline.

It is important you know what type of arborist you need, for instance not all climb nor do all write reports and consult.

Naturally Trees have AQF3 to AQF5 qualifications and can assist with all your tree related issues.  Our trained staff can manage your trees, carry out diagnosis and treatment or provide consultation and report writing requirements.

Hiring an arborist is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Proper tree care is an investment that can lead to substantial returns. Well cared for trees are attractive and can add considerable value to your property compared to poorly maintained trees that can be a significant liability.
